01 — The chair
Sam takes his time,
and you can tell.
Amunra is Sam's chair on Malvern Road — no conveyor belt, no being rushed
out the door. Regulars come back for years for exactly that. One review put it best:
Very friendly didn't feel rushed at all and overall an excellent experience.
Another: always takes his time, the end result is excellent.
It's the kind of
haircut where you sit down, have a decent chat, and leave happy.
02 — What Sam does
Skin fades and beards are the specialty.
Everything else is sorted too.
Pick a service to see the work. Prices are reasonable and posted at the chair; a standard cut runs around $55.
Skin fade
The best barber in Melbourne for skin fades & beards.
A clean, blended fade taken right down to skin, shaped to your head and how you wear it.
Beard fade & line-up
One of the best beard cuts in Melbourne. He does a nice fade and line up.
Trimmed, shaped, and edged so it actually frames your face.
Scissor cut
Got my hair cut, exactly the way I had imagined without having to say much.
A longer, scissor-led cut for when you're growing it out or keeping length up top.
Cut and beard combo
I'm always pleased with my haircut and beard trim. This is a quality barbershop.
Haircut and beard trim in the one sitting.
Kids' cuts
Good with kids, no fuss. Bring them in alongside your own appointment.
03 — Bring a photo
Show up with a photo.
Walk out with the cut.
You don't need to know numbers, blends, or barber jargon. Bring a picture of what you
want and Sam works it out from there — straight from a regular's review:
He's always smiling and extremely respectful when I come in with photos of haircuts
with no knowledge of numbers, blends or difficulty, yet he always finds a way to make
them become reality.
Had a cut go wrong somewhere else? That gets fixed here too:
In 2 visits he fixed the structural problems from previous cuts and delivered me a
cut and style that I couldn't be happier with.
04 — The room
Exposed brick, an old Chesterfield,
and a guitar in the corner.
The shop is half the reason people linger. Weathered red brick, a cluster of Edison
bulbs, a brown leather Chesterfield, vintage chrome chairs and a Les Paul on the wall —
closer to a mate's front room than a clinical salon. This is an awesome space. The
barber Sam is very friendly and always takes his time.

He paid great attention to detail, had really good taste, and actually listened to what I wanted. It's not easy to find someone who gets it right.

I won't need to shop for another hairdresser as long as Amunra stays in business… Charming, generous and friendly. Do your head a favour!
